Friday 22nd June 2012

National Symposia at Cardiff City Hall where my 'sister' Dr Ethel Brooks - Fulbright Distinguished Chair at The University Of Arts London - Associate Professor of Women's and Gender Studies and Sociology at Rutgers University U.S.A, Dr Ian Hancock - Professor of Linguistics - University of Texas, Austin and Thomas Acton OBE - Emeritus Professor of Romani Studies, University of Greenwich, London all spoke. Another opening at Cardiff Story for O Brishindeskeriatar. Performance by me in my Revolutionary Suit after Jae Jarrell's suit made in 1970 and a collaboration with Suzan Skelton my friend for many years, we met when we were at Worthing Art College when it was called West Sussex College of Art and Design with an embroidered patch from Dr Hancock which he had given to me earlier in the day. New Romani Revolution Flags made for the performance. Spoken word by Damian James Le Bas, some of the pieces will be available to read here soon. It was great to be surrounded by people who I respect greatly for the work they have and continue to do. Many thanks to Hannah and all the crew from Chapter who helped yet again to make it a wonderful evening.
